People are always on the move. They want to access information wherever and whenever they are. That's why it is important for the Internet to support access from mobile users. This special issue discusses advances in the state of the art and practice of mobile Internet, as well as to identify the emerging research topics and to define the future of nomadic Internet users. Video streaming plays an important role in future mobile Internet. Therefore, three papers discuss this topic in this special issue. Two concerns with error corrections and one focuses on session mobility management. Three papers propose testbeds and architecture for future Internet. They represent views from different continents. Two papers study MIP (Mobile Internet Protocol), one on multimedia streaming QoS and the other on fast handoff in MIPv6. Finally, one paper proposes an authenticated group management protocol and another paper proposes routing with localized clusters. As a result, it is a very diverse and fruitful special issue.
